Run & Walk for AIDS

  • Blue Star Arts Complex

Event Information:
The 25th annual Run & Walk for AIDS, benefiting the San Antonio AIDS Foundation (SAAF) will be held on Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 and will begin and end at the Blue Star Complex in the King William District. The 5K run will begin at 7:30AM and the 2-mile walk will begin at 8:30AM with music, booths and activities located at Blue Star's parking lot.

This is a day for family, friends, co-workers and even pets to join in and support SAAF while promoting community awareness. Last year several hundred people gathered together and in 2016 we are anticipating a significant increase in attendance. The Run & Walk for AIDS is an excellent way for groups and corporations to get involved.

About the Run & Walk for AIDS:
The Run & Walk for AIDS was founded in 1991 in what was formally known as Walk for Life. Each year, hundreds of South Texans gather to celebrate life and to raise funds for SAAF. The Run & Walk for AIDS promotes awareness and generates funds that allow SAAF to continue its pursuit of providing compassionate medical care and social services to people with HIV/AIDS and to help prevent the spread of HIV through education and free HIV testing.

6:00 am06:00

6 AM - 6 PM  Either take on these 12 hours solo...or invite your friends to join you in a 12 hour race. Multiple loops, varying distances, a variety of teams, and one rugged course. You will have three different loops of varying distances (approx 7 miles, 5  miles, and 3 miles), which can be run in any order. Each time you complete a loop, you must hand off your timing chip to a team mate. Each runner must run at least once. Each individual cannot run the same loop in a row. Your teammate can run the loop you just ran, but you can't go back to the same loop after you get the baton back. Goal is to get in as many miles as possible in 12 hours. A loop must be completed to count. So, if you're a 1/2 mile from the finish when 12 hours is up, no credit for that incomplete loop.

We will have plenty to do to keep you entertained at the start/finish while you wait. Bring a tent, chairs, coolers, etc. We will have live music, over a dozen vendors, and small challenges (think: hand stand competition, ladder ball brackets, beer can stacking challenge and on...)
